My freezer. Like….seriously.
I started this mini-series for November to give myself a goal of blogging everyday for the month about the things I am most thankful for. I have always loved these challenges but never stuck to them. I decided this was the year and that there is more than ever to be thankful for and I want to share it with the ones I love most.
Anyone else with me? I am not crazy when I say this but my freezer is a huge part of our meals.
Don’t get confused with what I am saying though. I make all our food from scratch. Everyday.
We never buy frozen food.
You may be wondering then why I love my freezer so much?!
Just today I put two bags of Turkey and Wild Rice Soup, two bags of homemade Turkey Gravy, and two containers of Squash Soup. A few days ago I also put a huge mason jar and two smaller ones of homemade Turkey Stock in there as well.
My freezer is a dumping ground for all things about to spoil. Clearance meat, soups, fruit, flours, breads, breastmilk, you name it…it’s in there.
I frequently shop the clearance sections at stores for things that could easily be frozen. Tonight I pulled out a pound and a half of hamburger patties that we broke up and sautéed for chili.
The freezer is a foundation for almost all our meals and what it allows me to do (save a dollar) is pure gold in my book!
